Distance & Online B Pharmacy Courses
Distance and online B Pharmacy (BPharm) courses are not accepted or approved in India by the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) or the University Grants Commission (UGC). According to PCI Regulation 2020 and UGC guidelines, pharmacy courses—i.e., BPharm and DPharm—must not be conducted through distance education or entirely online modes. This is because pharmacy education includes extensive hands-on practical training, lab work, and face-to-face contact, which cannot be done in an off-campus mode.
Even though some private schools and colleges tend to advertise BPharm online or distance learning programs, they are not eligible for Indian licensure, registration, or regulated pharmacy practice. Graduates from these programs cannot be registered pharmacists or even employed in government pharmacist roles. Regular full-time BPharm programs with face-to-face classes and practical experience are the ones eligible for licensure and hiring by the drug sector.
